Memebox Superbox #56 Yogurt Cosmetics Unboxing

There are people who prefer sophisticated and classy products and scents, and then there are those whose mind never really left the 4th grade and prefer cute things that smell good. I'm of the latter breed. Luckily, Memebox realizes that some of us never grow up and often puts out boxes catered to the young at heart.

What: Memebox is not a recurring subscription box. It's a one-time-purchase box filled with beauty products from Korea. There are several types of boxes: Memebox, Superbox, and Luckybox to name a few.
When: New boxes come out quite often, recently about three times a week.
Cost: $15 - $39, depending on the type of box + $6.99 shipping (from Korea)

I did a very good job at resisting the Yogurt box. Really, I did. It looked very interesting but I stayed strong. Then spoilers happened. After the first spoiler I was intrigued but still resisted. Then the second spoiler came with the words "strawberry smoothie" and I was finished. Defeated. What have you done with my willpower, Memebox? The force is strong in you.

Yogurt Cosmetics was selling for $23 + $6.99 shipping though I'm sure I used some kind of code to get a few bucks off. It arrived just a week after it shipped from Korea and I wasted no time digging right in.

Ettang Modeling Take-out Cup Pack - Yogurt (Value: $3) - What better way to start off the unboxing than with the spoilers? This take-out cup was the first spoiler. It's a flimsy cup and came wrapped in bubble wrap to prevent cracking. Good call. This cup contains a single serving of powder that magically turns rubbery when mixed with water. I love magic.
There are actually several variations of this powder-rubber fun - peppermint, chlorella, calendula, oatmeal, yogurt, propolis, and acerola. Everybody who ordered this box got (duh) yogurt. There's even a spatula in there for you to mix with! Love it when I don't have to provide my own tools. The powder looks ordinary enough. It's very fine, slightly lavender and odorless for the most part.
But when you add water and mix it turns into a thick rubbery mixture that you slather all over your face then peel off. I swear the picture above looks more creamy than rubbery, but I haven't tried it yet so I don't know for sure. Really excited to try this though; the novelty factor is like a zillion.

UPDATE 10/11/14: Just tried this tonight and I love it! The instructions say to fill the cup halfway with water. That's too much. I'd just fill it until you reach the level of the powder then mix. And also there's enough powder in there for two applications. I ended up wasting half of it. The mask itself worked okay and left my face feeling soft, but the best part was removing it. It goes on creamy but dries rubbery as described. Maybe it's my infatuation with peeling things, but I found it oddly therapeutic. Does that make me creepy? Here's a picture of the eye part of the mask:
So awesome. I think it gives the Kocostar Foot Therapy a run for its money. If I could find somewhere that sells this in the US I'd buy 10 just so I can peel it ten times.

Holika Holika I Want Chu Lip Balm - Strawberry Smoothie (Value: $11) - For some reason the Holika Holika website calls this Eye Balm and I can't figure out why. This was the second spoiler and selling point for me. I love fruity balms and strawberry is my all-time fave, so when the spoiler mentioned that this would taste like a strawberry smoothie I was all Hell yeah I'm getting this box and nothing's gonna stop me. Except an empty wallet, which luckily wasn't the case. Oh, and I like smoothies.

The way this works is you wear the strawberry balm and your significant other wears the yogurt-flavored one. Then you kiss and a magical chemical reaction takes place and both people end up with strawberry smoothie lip balms. Sadly I had to kiss myself because C wasn't around and he wouldn't agree to it even if he were. Strawberry top lip, yogurt bottom. Smack em together and...mmm smoooothie. There's no tint but there's definitely taste. This also comes in several other flavors: soda milk kiss, mojito kiss, and cherry kiss c*ck. I swear that's what the website says and I really hope that's a typo and they mean choc(olate).

Purederm Skin Softening Yogurt Mask - Strawberry (Value: $12) - Strawberries. I automatically like this. This is a strawberry yogurt mask that softens skin and keeps oil under control. There are silicones pretty high up in the (English!) ingredient list so it might actually blur fine lines and pores too. Based on the strawberry+yogurt lip balm above this should taste like a strawberry smoothie too. Hm. It smells so good I want to eat it to see if it really does. I don't care whether this works or not, I'll use it just so I can smell it.

INGREDIENTS:
Water (Aqua), Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Trehalose, Glyceryl Searate, Dimethicone, Cyclomethicone, Mineral Oil, Stearic Acid, Milk, Cetyl Tocopheryl Acetate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Sorbitan Stearate, Glyceryl Stearate/PEG-100 Stearate, Polysorbate-60, Phyto Collagen, Frangria Chiloensis (Strawberry) Extract, Triethanolamine, Yogurt Powder, Disodium EDTA, Allantoin, Red 33, Red 6, Methylparaben, Phenoxyethanol, Propylparaben, Fragrance (Parfum)

Pure Smile Yogurt Mask - Mixed Fruits (Value of each: $2.50) - Sheet masks! Not only that, but fruity sheet masks! I find masks fun mostly because I can scare my dogs with it. I don't know how I didn't notice this before, but I just realized that Pure Smile is a Japanese brand. It amuses me that they love to double up on words, sort of like a Japanese onomotopoeia. This mask uses "tsuru tsuru, sube sube" to describe silky smooth skin. The fun words make me like this mask even more. And there are two of them! It contains a blend of yogurt, banana, kiwi, and pineapple (though there are oranges and not pineapples on the package) as well as hyaluronic acid and vitamin E for hydration and nourishment. I hope this smells as good as I think it does!

Happy Bath Facial Yogurt Foam (Value: $6) - More yums! This foaming yogurt face wash comes in four varieties: Gentle (grains: sunflower, rice, macadamia), Moist (fruit essences: apple, banana, apricot), Silky (herb essences: lemon, orange, lime), and Firm (berry essences: blueberry, raspberry, cranberry). I got the berrylicious Firming variety which would've been my top choice anyway. Because berries. My skin isn't sagging or anything at the moment, but preventive maintenance is always welcome. This smells like berries and I will gladly wash my face with it as soon I get through the 10 bottles standing in line. Or maybe I'll make an exception for this one because it smells awesome.

Rappol Calming Cream (Value: $59) - This is a huge bottle of cream made specifically for dry, sensitive, or allergy-prone skin. It contains lactic acid, an AHA excellent at drawing in and retaining moisture. It also has phytoceramides, which boost skin immunity by making it harder for free radicals to cause skin damage (I'm not sure if it really works topically?). Both lactic acid and phytoceramides can stimulate collagen production so it has some anti-aging benefits as well. I don't know what else is in it, but this sounds like good stuff. My skin's more oily than dry even in the winter months, but C suffers from eczema and dry sensitive skin all the time. Maybe I can drag him into K-beauty?

Since this is a Superbox everything is full sized which is wonderful, but I find that even the regular Memeboxes have mostly full sized products anyway. Memebox placed a value of $96 on this one and it's totally worth the twenty-something I paid. In fact I think this may be my favorite Memebox yet. Everything smells so yummy and the Ettang take-out pack is definitely something new that I'm looking forward to trying. Plus I can actually use everything. Well maybe not the Rappol cream but C can definitely use it. I'm so happy with this box!

  1. omgomgomg!!! I want my Yogurt box! You are totally right, I love it!! I hope I get all the berries, too! Does the cream have donkey milk in it? I thought I read that somewhere but it could have been a mistake. So excited for this to get here!

    1. The ingredient list in in Korean so I'm not sure if it has donkey milk; I hope it does; I've been wanting to see what the hype is with it. I hope you get all the berries too! It smells so yummmmmmmmmmy :)

  2. I really loved this review, something about the way you write sets you apart from so many other bloggers! Very authentic and detailed :-) I purchased a restock of this box as I didn't have the chance when it first released. I'm super excited! Would you consider any of these products holy grail?
